Free Harlem Health & Resource Fair
StartCare hosted the second annual Brooklyn Health & Resource Fair, a free, family-friendly event focused on community wellness, health equity, and access to essential services.
Residents had opportunities to receive health screenings, meet local service providers, and connect with organizations offering resources related to healthcare, housing, education, mental health, and social services. The day also featured free food, giveaways, live music, and activities for all ages.

Poison Parks Forum & Community Fun Day Event

Join The Black Institute on September 19 for a family-friendly day of education, community connection, and action.
Following our public park sampling, we will share findings from our Poison Parks Report and discuss the use of toxic pesticides in New York City parks. Families will learn how pesticide exposure may affect children, pets, public health, and the environment.
Together, we will call on New York City to stop spraying toxic pesticides in public parks and invest in safer, organic land-management practices.
The event will include community resources, children’s activities, live entertainment, and opportunities to connect with local families and advocates.
Our parks belong to our communities. Help us protect them and reclaim safe, healthy green spaces for everyone.

Walk and Connect is a community wellness and relationship building initiative led by The Black Institute. Participants gather for a guided walk-through neighborhood across New York City. The goal is simple. Move the body. Clear the mind. Build real relationships.
These walks create space for advocates, residents, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to connect outside formal meetings. Conversations focus on community issues, collaboration opportunities, and strengthening networks that support work across economics - Minority Business Owners.
Walk and Connect promotes health, trust, and partnership while keeping community leadership grounded in the neighborhoods we serve.

The conversation will highlight practical solutions, successful partnerships, and resources that help create more inclusive contracting opportunities while strengthening economic equity for historically underserved communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with leaders committed to transforming procurement practices and ensuring that public and nonprofit investments create lasting opportunities for Black and Brown businesses.
