It is with profound sadness we want you all to know that a great man has passed away. Jon Kest, my partner at New York ACORN for decades left us last night after a long and debilitating illness. He will be missed by hundreds of thousands of people across this country whose lives he touched and made better. Jon Kest was my mentor, friend, colleague and partner in fighting for social justice and organizing the unorganized. Jon Kest could organize anything that moved and devoted his life to those who were being victimized by society, government, corporations or just plain bullies. He was a giant in the fight for civil and human rights. We will miss him but will never forget him. Jon Kest helped to create and inspire the vision for The Black Institute. TBI will continue to fight and bring about justice and change in his memory.
